Meet the Light + Love Arts Teachers

At Light + Love Arts, every class is more than just an art project—it’s an experience. We believe that children thrive when they’re given the freedom to explore, create, and make discoveries in spaces that are thoughtfully designed just for them.

That’s where we come in. We’re Leah and Lauren, the teachers behind Light + Love Arts! You’ll see us around the Studios at seasonal classes, Pop-Up Studio Parties and at community events.

Our Teaching Philosophy

Our role isn’t to tell kids exactly what to make, but to set the stage for meaningful exploration. We curate inviting environments, set up open-ended materials, and design special invitations to create that spark imagination.

Whether it’s a sensory-rich table of textures or a collection of loose parts waiting to become something entirely new, each setup encourages children to follow their own ideas while practicing important play schemas along the way.

Building a Vibrant Community

We also know that community matters. When families walk into our studios, we want them to feel welcomed, supported, and inspired. Parenting and raising children is a journey best traveled together, and our goal is to make Light + Love Arts a hub where families connect, share, and grow alongside their children.

As one parent shared, “Every time we come to the studio, my child lights up. It’s such a joyful, safe space where creativity feels endless.”

About Leah & Lauren

Leah Carpenter, Founder + Lead Facilitator
With a master’s in teaching and over a decade of experience working with students ages 2 to 82, I’ve seen firsthand the power of playful learning. My passion lies in creating enriching environments where children can explore freely, develop motor and spatial reasoning skills, and connect with one another.

At Light + Love Arts, I weave together process art, nature, and community. Our open-ended projects invite kids to express themselves while building a deep love for the natural world. For me, this work is about more than art—it’s about nurturing growth, joy, and connection.

Lauren, Lead + Assistant Facilitator
Originally from New Jersey, Lauren now calls Asheville home and brings a wealth of experience teaching Pre-K and leading multi-age art classes. With a background in dance healing and a love of nature, movement, and expressive art, she infuses every class with calm, creativity, and joy.

Lauren is most at peace when she’s outdoors, dancing, snapping nature photos, and connecting with others through everyday moments. She brings a warm, grounding presence to the Studio that helps children feel safe and inspired to explore.
