Meet the Teachers

Leah Carpenter,

Founder, Director + Lead Facilitator

I'm Leah - an educator, runner, maker, and a proud mom of two wonderful kids. With a masters in teaching, and nearly two decades of teaching experience in both Washington, D.C., and here in Asheville, I've had the privilege of working with diverse groups of students, ages 2 to 82.

My passion lies in creating enriching environments to learn and play. I believe in providing kids with abundant opportunities to engage in play, fostering the development of motor and spatial reasoning skills as well as creative confidence. As a mother myself, I understand the importance of community, and I strive to create spaces where Asheville families can connect and thrive together.

At Light + Love Arts, I am dedicated to providing a space where kids can be themselves, play, and develop skills that will last a lifetime.

Lauren, Lead + Assistant Facilitator

Originally from New Jersey, Lauren now calls Asheville home and brings experience teaching Pre-K and leading multi-age art classes, along with a background in dance healing and a deep love of nature, movement, and expressive art.

She’s most at peace when she’s outdoors, dancing, snapping nature pics, and connecting with others through everyday joy.

She brings a calm, creative energy to the Studio and we can’t wait for you to meet her!

Molly, Lead Facilitator, Afterschool Program

Molly came to Asheville by way of Massachusetts, where she was born & raised. The mountains, arts community brought her to Asheville!

Molly has dedicated her life to working with children, having been an infant nanny for 7 years with time as a bookseller sprinkled in as well.

She likes to hike, read, and create art; mainly drawing, painting, mosaic, & hand building ceramics.

“I’m so excited to be working with Light + Love because fostering curiosity, creativity, & hands on creation with kids is something that truly makes my heart sing!” - Molly
