A New Chapter for Light + Love Arts: We’re Moving to the River Arts District

Hi there! Leah here!

I’m the Founder of Light + Love Arts, and I am SO excited to share that Light + Love Arts is moving into a new studio in the River Arts District!!!

I have been dreaming up a beautiful, welcoming, warm and creative space that we can all enjoy!

Why This Move Matters

For years, Light + Love Arts has grown through community—families showing up, children creating freely, and word-of-mouth carrying our work far beyond what I could have imagined.

And as we’ve grown, so has the vision.

I’ve been dreaming about a space that allows us to:

  • Welcome more families into the studio

  • Expand our programming in thoughtful, meaningful ways

  • Create an experience that feels easy, accessible, and inspiring from the moment you arrive

This new studio is a natural next step, one that gives us the room to grow while staying rooted in everything that matters most.

Why the River Arts District?

The River Arts District is one of the most creative, inspiring places in Asheville—filled with working artists, galleries, and a sense of art as something alive and evolving.

It was recently recognized as the #1 arts district in the country—and yet, until now, there hasn’t really been a space designed for families to participate in that creative energy.

That’s what drew us here.

We believe children are artists, too.

And we love the idea of:

  • Children creating just steps away from working artists

  • Families experiencing art not just as something to observe, but something to do

  • A day spent in the RAD that doesn’t end with “time to leave,” but continues into making

We’re stepping into a larger creative ecosystem with this move.

What This Means for Your Family

This move allows us to offer even more of what you already love, along with some exciting new additions.

More Space to Create

Our new studio gives children the freedom to spread out, explore materials deeply, and follow their ideas.

A More Accessible Experience

We intentionally chose a more central location with easier access and parking, because we know how important that is for families.

Expanded Programming

With this space, we’ll be introducing:

  • Open Studio experiences

  • More weekend offerings

  • Daytime classes for younger children

  • Expanded programs for all ages

  • New opportunities for families and adults to create together

An Inspiring Setting

Being in the River Arts District means we are surrounded by creativity and that energy naturally becomes part of the experience.

What’s Staying the Same

While the space is new, the heart of Light + Love Arts remains exactly the same.

We are still:

  • Rooted in process-based, child-led art

  • Focused on creativity over perfection

  • Committed to creating a warm, welcoming environment

  • Guided by our studio values: Be Safe, Be Kind, Be Brave

And most importantly—our team is the same 💛

When We’re Opening

We’ll begin programming in the new studio at the end of May, starting with Summer Camps and expanding into full programming from there.

If you’re already registered for a program, don’t worry, we’ll be sending detailed information to make everything feels smooth and easy.

Looking Ahead

I imagine families spending a morning exploring the River Arts District—stepping into studios, noticing color and texture, watching artists at work…

…and then walking into our space to create something of their own.

It’s about creating a place where:

  • Creativity feels accessible

  • Families feel welcome

  • Children feel empowered to explore and express themselves

I can’t wait to open the doors and welcome you in.
